- The project is very clearly organized, acting as a threshold from the public realm to the secure, private area of the pool. The way in which the roof was handled adds a playful element while also bringing natural light into each of the spaces The project narrative talked about the segregated history of the pool and we thought it was interesting the way in which the design proposed a shared, communal locker room as a primary feature of the project. While the narrative didn’t speak to this connection, the design proposal could be seen as a commentary on that history, rejecting it with a more positive, inventive approach. The vocabulary of the building – it is a building that’s about recreation and swimming and summer and fun and the building looks like it’s fun. It looks like summer. The organization is very simplistic, very straightforward, it’s not forced. Connected links that reference the boardwalks that are fingered out from the building are well executed. As an unbuilt project, this is one we would certainly like to see realized and would want to visit in the future.
