Welcome to AIA Maryland Incorporated in 1965, AIA Maryland is managed by a Board of
Directors elected from each of the three state chapters - Baltimore, Chesapeake Bay and Potomac Valley. Our mission is "to improve the practice of architecture in Maryland through
legislative and governmental action." Our perspective is mostly at the State level, although we maintain close ties with both state and local legislators. We promote architects and
architecture through political activism, legislative activities and grassroots efforts and we guard the interests of architects with regard to regulations and law. Our state Map of the
Chapters is designed to help you find an architect in your area.
Easy directions to get to the Chapter House on State Circle.

Your help is needed to give architects a strong voice in the Maryland General Assembly. Now is the time to act.
We’ve all learned a lot about the effects of climate change lately. AIA Architects have learned that sustainable design solutions can positively impact a buildings effect, not only
in the environment, but on the well-being of its occupants as well. That’s why bringing an AIA Architect onto your team early in the process is critical.
AIA Architects are committed to decreasing the overall footprint of buildings, reducing emissions, energy usage, and resource dependence while increasing indoor air quality. It’s
a walk that helps not only our well-being, but the well-being of our planet as well. Together we can learn our way to a more sustainable future.
In honor of the American Institute of Architects’ sesquicentennial and as part of the national AIA effort “Blueprint for America” - http://www.aia150.org/, please join architects across the state of Maryland in working with our local middle schools and high schools to
develop a better understanding of the built environment and the effect that we have on the world around us.
In a program we have dubbed “150 for 150” we seek to partner a minimum of 150 Maryland architects, and 150 architecture students, with 150 secondary schools throughout Maryland. We are in the process of developing a curriculum and instructional materials to assist you in working with students to better understand the impacts of buildings on our surroundings, both ecologically and sociologically, based on the AIA’s Ten Points for Livable Communities - http://www.aia.org/liv_principles.
We are seeking volunteers to assist in developing the curriculum as well as volunteers to work with the schools in the Spring. If you have ever wanted to help
mold the minds of tomorrow, now’s your chance!
