AIA Maryland Design Awards 2012

AIA Maryland Celebrates Design Excellence at Annual Awards Gala

Members and their clients, architectural students and professors, along with their colleagues gathered on September 6th at Anne Arundel Community College in Arnold to recognize the outstanding architectural achievements of AIA members and architectural students. The 17 award-winning projects were selected from a field of 112 professional entries submitted by 53 firms representing AIA members across Maryland, Virginia and DC. Forty-six submissions were received in the student awards programs. Five graduate and undergraduate students from the University of Maryland were recognized for award. The jury bestowed four additional awards to Anne Arundel Community College and Montgomery College students in the Maryland Community College Architectural Projects competition, now in its third year.  Juror Amy Landesberg, AIA LEED AP (bd+c), Principal of Amy Landesberg Architects based in Atlanta, assisted by Carl Elefante, FAIA, President, presented the awards to the students, architects, building owners, and general contractors for their outstanding design. AIA Maryland wishes to thank all participants for their contributions to this annual program.

About AIA Maryland Design Awards

The AIA Maryland Design Awards program recognizes excellence in architectural design by AIA Maryland architects worldwide and for AIA member work in Maryland. Built and unbuilt projects submitted by AIA members are judged on their merit by a distinguished jury of AIA architects. The annual AIA Maryland Design Awards program provides member architects an avenue for peer recognition and honors the architects, clients, and consultants who work together to improve the built environment. With this program AIA Maryland hopes to encourage and recognize distinguished architectural achievement and raise public consciousness of the Architect’s role in shaping the quality of life through design excellence in the community.
