A’18 – AIA Conference on Architecture

Wow, do we have a line up for you! I hope you are joining the over 19,000 attendees already registered for this City-wide event. That’s right, we are going all over the city for our business meeting, trade show, education sessions, networking and keynote sessions. There are challenges for any conference the size of AIA’s conference and this city-wide event will break tradition with multiple venues around town. Session schedules have been adjusted to allow for travel time so plan ahead and give yourself time to travel between venues as needed.

Event check-in and information booths will be at the 3 major conference sites – Javits Center, Hilton Midtown and the New School (the New School can only print badges). You will find A’18 Ambassadors with colorful staff apparel floating here as well.

Attendees received an email last week about downloading the A’18 mobile app – DO IT! If you can’t find the email (check your junk folder), simply download the app and use the forgot my password feature. With the app you can set up a personal schedule; receive last-minute alerts right on your phone or tablet; connect with other attendees; register for ticketed sessions; access floor plans and maps and, view exhibitor listings and booth locations.

Be sure to pack your walking shoes! There will be buses shuttling folks between the Javits Center, Hilton Midtown and the New School during education hours only. Check out the Getting Around page on the conference website.

Many of the sessions are sold out. As of today (6/12) only 40% of the Saturday education sessions have openings. If you did not add the opening, closing or keynote sessions to your cart at registration, you will not have a ticket for these sold out events. Overflow simulcasts will be available at the Javits Center. Standby seating is also available at education sessions – if seats are  available 5-10 minutes before the start of a session, staff will allow attendees without tickets to enter.

It should be an exciting week of activities in New York. Check out the conference website for more details and information. See you in New York!
