Two full-time construction lawyers from Allensworth & Porter in Austin, Texas address issues of concern to architects seeking to cope with the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic and its effect on the construction industry.  Tune in to hear observations on the issues that are developing in the industry, and how to react to them in ways that can help secure better practice and project outcomes.

Course Learning Objectives:

  1. Attendees will learn about anticipated sources of project distress for design professionals arising from developing circumstances in the construction industry;
  2. Attendees will emerge with a better understanding of the application of their contracts to the pandemic-related circumstances now confronting construction projects throughout Texas, with an eye toward promoting better project management, client service and support, and orderly design/construction team communications and working relationships;
  3. Attendees will obtain important insights as to promoting compliance with applicable governmental and industry practices in the COVID-19 era, including good health/safety/welfare practices-both within their own workplaces/teams, and at construction jobsites; and
  4. Attendees will gain an understanding of key contract clauses to assist them in drafting and negotiating better, consistent, and enforceable contracts to allocate risk more effectively, in general, and as we emerge from the COVID-19 era.
