Brewer’s Alley Renovation and Expansion – Frederick, MD
Brewer’s Alley is lauded as Frederick Maryland’s original brew pub. Although currently used as a tavern, this multi-level 1769 building is a unique part of the historic district. The building has been a market place, an opera house, movie theater and the town administrative offices. The Brewer’s Alley renovation and expansion program included expanding the seating capacity, returning a brewing operation to the site, and to provide “a roof top terrace feature” unique to downtown Frederick. The design of the addition received unanimous approval from the Historic Preservation Commission for the use of materials and details that complements the historic building while creating a new and exciting aesthetic. In a phased process, the kitchen will be updated and expanded, a new wood fired oven installed, dining rooms renovated and a new exterior dining experience added with street level patios, large operable dining room window walls and roof terrace dining.
